Before & After: A Full Kitchen Remodel in Alpharetta

Updated July 18, 2026 · By the Center Cabinet team, Roswell GA

This is what “before and after” means when the same crew photographs both ends: an Alpharetta kitchen that started with 2000s espresso cabinets, speckled granite and a diagonal beige backsplash — and finished as a white shaker kitchen with quartz counters and matte black hardware. Every frame is from our own camera; the before photo is literally demolition day.

What the “before” actually looked like

The bones were fine. The layout worked, the ceilings were standard, and the crown molding was worth keeping. What dated the room was the finish package — dark doors that swallowed the light, busy granite, and that diagonal tile pattern that places a kitchen in a specific decade the way a haircut places a photograph. Doors were already off the boxes when we shot the before frame; the full picture is on the project page.

Two decisions did most of the work here. First, shaker doors in warm white — the safest long-term choice in a kitchen this size, and the style we install more than everything else combined. Second, one metal everywhere: matte black pulls, faucet and range. Mixed metals read as clutter in a white kitchen; one metal reads as a decision.

The microwave drawer is the sleeper upgrade. Moving the microwave off the counter and into the island returned a full prep zone to the kitchen — the kind of change nobody photographs but everybody uses ten times a day.

What this kind of remodel involves

Demolition, cabinets, quartz counters, tile and finish work ran as one written schedule with our own crew — the process laid out step-by-step on our kitchen remodeling page. If your kitchen is wearing the same 2000s finish package, the honest first question is whether your boxes are worth keeping or replacing; we answer it from photos, for free, through the design and quote form.

What we’d tell a friend

Do not start with Pinterest — start with what dates your kitchen and fix that list in order. In Alpharetta and across North Atlanta, that list is usually door color, counter pattern and backsplash direction, in that order. Fix those three coherently and the room reads new, even before anyone notices the microwave is missing from the counter.
