It is the construction you see in classic furniture, and it is the most labor-intensive door we offer — every reveal has to be fitted evenly by hand.
Two honest notes before you choose it. First, inset costs more than an overlay door of the same color, because the fitting takes real bench time. Second, the interior space is slightly smaller than a comparable frameless box — the face frame takes its share. Homeowners pick inset for the look, not for the math, and in the right house nothing else comes close.
Inset suits traditional and transitional homes best. If your budget wants the clean look without the fitting cost, a shaker door with slim rails gets you part of the way there.
